God is working

God continues to show himself in amazing ways as was evident tonight as we started our first midweek service for college students; God is continuing to change the lives of people close to me, and I am soooo excited! I seriously cannot sit still or stop smiling :)
I'm hoping to get sleep tom. afternoon after I submit a 5-7 pg. paper online tom. by 3:15-I'll be up early to work on it.
On an illness note, I think I've been ill more times this semester than I have in like the past 4 years.  I picked up bronchitis, then I picked up a cold last week, and now I have a viral rash that will be hanging around for a while :)  At least the health fees I paid for are going to good use!
Spring Break is coming soon-7 days :)

One True God

I don't even know where to start talking about this weekend, I do know that God showed up.  There were about 20 people that went and we were on no structured schedule.  We wanted God to determine what happened when we all got together.  Sat. morning I got up and went to the beach to watch the sunrise with 2 other people, and it was amazing.  It was cold but we got coffee to help warm us up and there's nothing like being in a quiet place reflecting on God, His creation and His Word.  Later that morning, we all got together in a small room and started singing some songs and praying and letting God move.  Sat. night we all got together again and did the same thing-we prayed and sung from 8:30/9:00 until 12:30!   When you allow God to do what he wants in a place, the results are incredible; there were 20 people all praying out loud, praying different prayers, laying on the floor, sitting in chairs, praying over others; Louisa, Liz, and Tiffany from the leadership team all felt led to pray for me and everything they said was accurate, spoke to my heart, encouraged me, and challenged me; God was speaking through them.  I've moved into a different place in my relationship with God after this weekend-He is ALL I need.  He is a powerful God, he parted the Red Sea in the old testament and He can do that today; he made the blind see, the deaf hear, the mute talk and He can do that today; the power has not disappeared.  God is still doing work in me, and I know that He is not finished (which excites me!).  And Satan has no place here despite the fact that he's going to do everything he can to get us off track because he is TICKED off.
A verse that I read while on the beach Sat. morning was Jeremiah 29:11-13: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."  I felt convicted when I read verse 13 because I realized that God didn't have all of my heart.  He is earnestly running after my heart and I need to be earnestly seeking his heart too; that's what it's all about.
So, Nancy we definitely did ALOT of praying, and there is incredible power in it.  Myrtle Beach is definitely different from the OBX-the beach is very wide and the sand is fine; we had fun playing football for 3 hours there Sat. afternoon.  We also made a trip to Planet Hollywood to eat at Margaritaville which was an adventure in itself :)
I will keep sharing about what God is doing at Daystar, in the college ministry, and in Greensboro, because it's a testament to God's power and the truth that He's the one true God.

The weekend is here!

Weekend! I'm very excited to be going on a retreat this weekend with the Daystar crew :) God has really been doing some amazing stuff in this college ministry and we know that He has even better things planned for us; a group of us gathered on Wed. night and spent 3 hours just praying; we prayed for our Wed. night service that starts next week, the retreat, we prayed for boldness, we prayed for emptiness of ourselves, we prayed that God would show himself to us and we also told Satan that he needs to back off!  Last night I got the opportunity to meet Kathy who is the head of children's ministry at Daystar and talk about some service opportunities in the church; I'm praying about it, but I think I may take a spot as a small group leader for the elementary school age group for 3rd-5th graders; I can't wait to get involved!
Spring Break will be here in 2 weeks and it's hard to believe that the semester is flying by as fast as it is; before I know it, it will be summertime :)
Here are 2 more pics; the first one was taken at Christmas time at my grandparent's house.  The second one is Steven-look at how big his feet are! and his facial expression cracks me up too.

Better Week

What a great weekend-I did absolutely nothing and felt like I recovered from my illnesses pretty well; the cough is still hanging around but I'm definitely feeling better. Valentine's Day was pretty lonely though I do have to say; the humorous part was going to the caf for dinner that night and observing the caf population: me sitting at a table alone, another girl several tables away all by herself, another girl by herself, and a table of guys :)  But I was a happy individual when I got to see Sadie, and Hailey again after they left for the weekend.
This week is showing positive signs of not being as hectic as last so that's good, and I'm looking forward to going on a retreat to Myrtle Beach this weekend with a group from Daystar; should be fun since I've never been to SC!
Hopefully I will have some pics to put up after that, and I should get some more childhood pics up sometime this week.

Weekend to Recup.

So the week of no sleep has ended-thank goodness! I have really been struggling with being sick since I've been back from break with bronchitis and then I picked up a cold at the beginning of this week (prob. from my lack of sleep and shot immune system...).  This weekend I should have the opportunity to rest, catch up on sleep, and hopefully get to feeling close to 100% soon.
I got a Valentine's Day care package today from my mom-Thank youuu momma!! (and Steve for helping her :)
It was an amazing week weather-wise with temps staying in the mid 60's and 70's all week; unfortunately, tom. starts a colder trend with some rain moving in.  We enjoyed the Spring Fling though :)

Baby Pics

The rest of last week turned out pretty uneventful but this weekend was alot of fun; I went dress shopping with Cathy, Brandy, Dakota, and Bri for bridesmaid dresses and a maid of honor dress, and we were pretty successful; we found bridesmaids dresses that we like (the color is pretty pretty :) and Cathy and I may go to VA over Spring Break...we'll see.
This week will be the week of NO sleep (until maybe Thurs. or Fri.) as I have tests and a paper and just a busy schedule in general.  So, I plan on plugging along at the fastest pace possible.
I had a study abroad meeting on Friday and found out the astronomically large amount of paperwork and forms that I have to fill out.  The good thing is that I am starting early since I am not going abroad till Spring of '10.  Right now, my top 2 choices are James Cook University in Northern Queensland, Australia and Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia.  God may lead me somewhere else though, so I'm not closing any doors :)
More pictures:  These are from when I was born.  I tell mom that I looked like a scrawny baby bird because there wasn't a whole lot to me at 2 pounds 4 ounces.  I was born a little over 2 months premature, and mom said at that time ('89) they hadn't really developed a preemie clothing line so alot of the clothes I wore the first several months were actually baby doll clothes which mom still has :)

You can see momma's handwriting on the bottom :)

Snow pics

I was very excited today to start my internship at Peck Elementary School (and a little nervous at the same time...); It was great-I love preschoolers! They have alot of energy and alot of curiosity.  They wanted to feed me all the food at the food/drama station as well as show me all the costumes they had to dress up in.  When I first got there, they were going through a book they had made for their cafeteria lady who had been hurt, and when they took it to her,  you could tell she was absolutely touched by it.
It was a little bit of a bummer though that we didn't get ANY snow last night despite the forecast for 1-3 in. (the weather people have one more strike and then they're out.)  But Friday is coming soon and that means I get to see Cathy and Dakota! I'm very excited about that :) I have another pic to put up that are fitting for all the snow that people have been seeing.  They were taken prob. when Meg and I were 5 and 6 (?) after we got a snow when we lived in our Preston, MD farm house.  That orange sled was a huge favorite and went with us from house to house till me moved to the OBX.

New Fav. Song

Guess What? I found a new song that I love :) "One True God" by Mark Harris encourages me every time I hear it.  Here's the youtube link:

So Close....

very sad that the Cardinals lost the Super Bowl last night (they were SO close) AND the commercials were no good at all! (the Coke one with the bugs was my fav.)The football game was awesome however; I was getting and responding to play-by-play comments from Nancy Hamilton and Steven-it was great :)  Besides the Super Bowl, the weekend was pretty uneventful.  I did have a fun night on Saturday though when I got to go over to the house of a family from Daystar that has kind of "adopted" me through a program called LINK.  The family consists of a couple, Tim and Elena, with four kids Hannah, Matthew, Ella, and Jonathan ages 4, 5, 8, and 9 so you know life can be crazy around their house :) It was alot of fun to watch the kids help cook dinner and then after the kids went to bed, we watched Diary of a Mad Black Woman which has been added to my list of favorite movies. I look forward to visiting with them again.
On a side note, I love looking through pictures (I think if I could scrapbook, I would) and when I was home for break I found some cute pics of when Meg, Steve, and I were little so I wanted to slowly add them to my blog; enjoy looking at us when we were cute and innocent :)
